CAN I DONATE A DEER I HUNTED?

We accept all deer and feral hogs fresh with guts, gutted and chilled, or just parts and pieces.
-There is no appointment necessary for donations, you can drop off anytime within our business hours. We also accept deer dispatched on Depredation Permits.
- There is never any charge to Drop Off, and we simply need a confirmation number on deer only.
- We offer transportation options if you are in need of multiple deer pick-ups or walk-in cooler clean-outs, or are not relatively local and have multiple animals to donate. We also have a Cooler Trailer available for the community to have a doe or hog round-up with multiple landowners suffering from crop damage.
-Off-season, After-Hours drop-offs are available, but please call for additional information and key.

CAN I GET ON A LIST TO GET DONATED DEER?

At this time, Venison Provisions operates through established ministries, food banks, and charity programs to provide fresh meat to those in need. We do not have our own vetting process in place to be able to distribute to individuals. We ask that if you are in need, to please visit our Ministries Served page to view a current list of establishments that we deliver meat to. Their counties and purpose are listed and we urge you to reach out to one that may be closest to you for assistance.

HOW CAN MY MINISTRY OR CHARITY PROGRAM RECIEVE MEAT FROM VENISON PROVISIONS?

If you are an established 501(c)3 Charity organization, food pantry, recovery home, animal rescue, or related program, all you need to do is reach out to us! You may send an email at venisonprovisions@gmail.com, but we do prefer a phone call at 334-439-5080 to better get to know you and your organization and how best to accommodate your needs. You need not be immediately local, as we do have a network of amazing volunteers that are willing to deliver meat almost anywhere in the state!

WHAT DOES VENISON PROVISIONS ACTUALLY PROVIDE?

Venison Provisions takes in all unwanted, fresh, deer or feral hog harvests. From those animals, we create fresh ground, no fat venison burger, cubed steaks, and the occasional backstrap roasts. From the feral hogs, we create a mild breakfast sausage. All this is raw, fresh food, ready to be used in a limitless amount of recipes! We also sort and process any leftover trim to donate to animal rescue shelters in need. We strive for nothing to go to waste!
We do not currently produce any other blends or specialty products. All bags are labeled with their product and any important safe handling instructions. Please follow appropriate cooking and handling procedures as you would with any store bought raw beef or pork products.

I RECEIVED SOME VENISON OR FERAL HOG, WHAT DO I DO WITH IT?

You can treat fresh ground venison burger like you do any lean beef burger; make patties, meatloaf, scramble for burritos, soups, or casseroles… season it any way you like! Cubed steaks are a pre-tenderized cut of deer meat, and are great fried or pan-seared, used as country fried steak, put in gravy, or even on a sandwich. Backstraps are very tender and a prized cut of meat; use as a roast, slice into steak medallions, cube for gravy and rice, cut open and stuff with your favorite ingredients (like cheese and jalapenos), or slice into strips for fajitas!

Our feral hog is currently only processed as mild breakfast sausage, and is wonderful in a sausage gravy, made into patties for biscuits, even put in a marinara or spaghetti (trust us, its great!)

You can visit our page, ‘Venison on A Dime, to view a compilation of budget-friendly recipes using venison, collected from across the internet, local entries, and from Shana’s own kitchen. We also list some of our favorite wild game websites loaded with other ideas.
